MAMA TINA’S HIDE AWAY
NEWS FROM YOUR CREATIVE MEMORIES CONSULTANT
Let’s Get this Party Started
Plan of action – inspire others
Welcome back!
I know that it feels like summer has just begun, and I am loving the beautiful weather, but it is time to start planning my fall event calendar.  I have been learning a lot over the past few months, including how to chroch-knitt washcloths and blankets (thanks to our guest teacher Trudy Hawley) and canning the delicious harvests of summer, including jams, syrups and pie fillings to start.
I am adding several options for this fall, including a croppers club, Blankets for Doernbecher’s and monthly participation in a Salem Direct Sales Vendor event which will give you the opportunity to meet direct sales consultants from many other businesses.

This event will repeat, time and location are the same, see dates in the Event Calendar for when I will be there.
TIME TO REGISTER!
Croppers Club is starting August 31st – please register by August 18th if you are interested in joining us for this one year commitment.  You agree to spend a total of $50 every two months (can be all at once or over the two month time frame) and you will receive host credit for a minimum of $60 of free product.  (Late registrations will be considered based on availability of space).  Project workshops do count towards your commitment.

Christmas Year Round

Plan now, your holiday season will be much more enjoyable

Last newsletter, I talked about hoping to motivate others to join me in my goal to plan ahead for Christmas so that I could be completely done by Thanksgiving and I could enjoy the six weeks leading up to Christmas.  I know a few of you were interested, but would like to know how you have done so far.  I sat down this weekend and figured out that I have about 75% of my gifts figured out, 65% of which have been purchased, and about half of them are already made.
If I decide to go black Friday shopping this year, it will be all for me.  I am very excited to be back on track for holiday season success.
It’s not too late to start making early progress on your own list of projects.  Let me know if you need help finding your own inspiration to make it happen.

Projects
Projects will remain available as long as the basic supplies are available for purchased.  Seasonal Projects are dependent upon their availability from an outside source, such as wood based projects.  Availability will depend on my supply and will change as the projects available change (about every 6 months from what I have been told).  Quantities may be limited, so pre-ordering is recommended on projects that you are interested in making multiples of.

SEASONAL PROJECTS
Puzzle boardsMake a puzzle out of a 12 x 12 page layout that will be a lifetime favorite of any child.  This 2 hour project will be taught April 21 and will also be available during project choice workshops.   $15
Shadow BoxShadow box is 8 x 8 x 2 when closed and opens up to be an excellent desk display that anyone would be proud of to show off their children, fur-babies and grand’s.  This project will be taught at the Sun River retreat weekend, on May 19th and will also be available during project choice workshops.  This project requires that the box be painted before the workshop, so pre-registration and paper choice/color choice must be made at least two weeks prior to the workshop day.  $25
Tile Signs/Coaster SetsCreate a decorative sign that can be hung on a wall or door, or make your own coaster set.  This project will be available during project choice workshops.  $15
NON-SEASONAL PROJECTS
Flip-Flop AlbumsIt’s the album that just keeps opening and opening, to openly display 9 different 6 x 6 layouts that fold down into a size that can be tucked away in your purse – great gift to ship to family members who live out of town, and can be used as gifts for any occasion.  This project will be  taught on June 16th and will also be available during project choice workshops.  $25
Birthday cardsCreate 12 handmade cards in this 2 hour class to keep on hand.  $20
Everyday cardsCreate 20 handmade cards to have on hand for that special person who did something extra sweet for you, or who is feeling down.   $35
Christmas Cards – Create 20 handmade Christmas cards along with a handmade gift bag or two just in time for gift giving season.  This workshop is held the Saturday before Thanksgiving each year, so plan ahead.  $35

Workshops
Workshops will be held in Mama Tina’s Hide Away, located in my home in South Salem, unless otherwise noted. Workshop fees are as noted, dependent upon projects and teaching requirements.  If you are interested in hosting a workshop at your home/other location, we can schedule that, with benefits to you.  Have 5 friends register and pay for their project, and there will be no charge for your participation in the workshop, plus you will receive host credit for Creative Memories product purchased, based on the company guidelines.

Monthly Workshops – This is an 8 hour open forum held the second Saturday of every month.  Many tools are made available for your use, including most Creative Memories punches, border maker system, custom cutting system, creative cuts system, Cricut machine and cartridges.  Each attendee has plenty of table space to.  This is a great time to check out other people’s style, share ideas get your creative flowing.  Snacks are provided.  These workshops are held from 11am to 7pm the second Saturday of each month in South Salem.  $10 (free with $50 purchase).
Border maker workshop – This class will teach you how to use the Border making system and a variety of paper punch tools.  We will build samples that can be incorporated into projects of any nature, including cards, layouts and other craft projects. $15
Project Choice workshops (PCW) – These workshops will be by appointment only and will allow you to work on a project of your choice for a 2-3 hour personal scrapbook workshop, with table space and lots of ideas available.  These workshops require pre-registration a minimum of two weeks in advance, with designation of which projects you will want to work on.  Cost is based on project selected plus a $5 workshop fee, which will be waved with any $25 Creative Memories purchase made during the workshop.  Contact me to arrange a time.
Scrap User workshop – Anyone who scrapbooks know that they will have a ton of scraps left over.  If you are not a regular scrapbooker yet, this project will teach you some basics that you can do without owning all the tools in the book, (just need a few, like a paper cutter/trimmer, a tape runner, couple pieces of paper and your imagination – candy helps too).  This class will teach several small projects that can be created using the left over scraps from most any other project.  $15
Beginners class– This is a chance to share the love of scrapbooking with your friends.  You invite a group of friends and I will come teach them about the basics of scrapbooking.  You earn host credit for any products purchased at your class.  This is typically scheduled at your own location and there is no fee for the class.
Christmas cards for Soldiers – this workshop is to create hand made Christmas cards that will be sent to soldiers who are participating in the Wounded Warrior Program at Ft. Lewis in Washington.  There is no cost for this workshop, though donations to help offset the cost of supplies would be appreciated.
Christmas card workshop – This workshop is held each year the weekend before Thanksgiving.  Pre-registration and payment is due by the 1st of November.

For A Loop
Not what you were expecting, but yah, I guess it fits
The main focus of my business is creating paper based projects and scrapbooks using Creative Memories products, however, there are times I like to mix it up and work on other crafty things.  I would like to invite my friends to join me for these various projects/workshops throughout the year, as I am able to get them coordinated.  “For a Loop” are projects other than scrapbooking, that fit in my main goal of preparing for Christmas throughout the year.
The first “For a Loop” events held were to learn how to Chroch-knitt washcloths and then baby blankets, with a big thank you to our teacher Trudy Hawley.
I have selected a For A Loop project to honor my friend Laura and her baby boy Terick, who spent a lot of his short life at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.  We will be making tie blankets for Doernbecher’s (hopefully) each month throughout the year, then deliver them to the children around Christmas time as a special gift of encouragement to the families.  You can purchase your own kit and bring your own supplies (rotary cutter, matt and cutting guide), or pre-register with $20 a week in advance and I will pick up material for you.
I will be holding my annual “Baking Day” the Saturday after Thanksgiving where we will make cake balls, peanut brittle, cookies and other goodies.  You will need to pre-register and pre-pay for this class at least a week in advance, cost will be determined based on how much you would like to take home.
Is there something you would like to learn?  Let me know and I will see what I can do to make it happen!

I am working on a fund raiser project and would appreciate some help with distribution of the attached flyer. Plus, if you know anyone who may be interested in being a vendor at this event, I have about 8 tables still available.

Gridley is a great dog, and will be a great companion for Kevin when he comes home.  The thought Kevin having to give up his best friend because of the expense of 10 months in the kennel is heart breaking...  please forward to anyone you think may be willing to help.

Plan of action – inspire others
Welcome to my first quarterly newsletter, and I hope that when you are done reading this, you are as excited as I am and can’t wait for the next one to arrive.
As a Creative Memories consultant I have always enjoyed hosting workshops.  I have recently been inspired to do more with this business and to move things into high gear.  I want you to come with me.

I have spent the past month looking for projects that will inspire others to take a new look at life and appreciate memento’s that remind of our history, and history of those around us.
My inspiration has come from various sources.  The journey to find projects that are fun, memorable and inspirational began after talking with a friend who was in a serious car wreck that almost killed her.  This event changed her entire outlook on life.  She asked me to help her find projects she can do with her kids that will document the life and love she has for her family, including her three new grands.
This search has inspired me to offer classes and bring this idea to others as well.

Christmas Year Round
Plan now, your holiday season will be much more enjoyable

Call me crazy, but I want to be a person who has all my Christmas shopping done, before Thanksgiving…  The tree goes up the next weekend, and gifts are wrapped and ready to go.  Now I have six weeks to enjoy the excitement that builds in my kids, and all the other activities that occur during this busy time of year.
Granted, my kids are mid to late teens, which I am learning frees up a lot of time, (youngest is getting her driver’s license next month)!  How I plan to use that time is to plan out how I can inspire all of you to make your own holiday season easier.
Projects are planned with the thought of preparing for gift giving season, while others are facing the holiday madness at the mall, you can sit back and smile, knowing you have over half your gifts made and paid for!  (OK, for those of you who see black Friday shopping as a sport, you can shop for yourself!  Win – Win!).
